Epworth’s 17th Annual Charity Polo Match Draws Record Crowd and Raises Funds and Awareness for Youth in Foster Care
More than 1,100 supporters of Epworth Children & Family Services headed to St. Charles County on Saturday, June 9th to enjoy a rousing polo match between Kräftig and Wells Fargo Advisors. The event raised over $40,000 for youth and families served by Epworth’s programs.
Familiar faces and many new friends picnicked during the match that resulted in a win by Wells Fargo Advisors. Spectators at the event were treated to an assortment of family-fun activities including inflatable rides, face painting, Belgian horse drawn wagon rides, and the half-time tradition of the divot stomp and champagne toast.
The St. Louis Polo Club hosts this annual event at Christi and Billy Busch’s Blue Heron Polo Club. Proceeds benefit the youth served by Epworth which provides direct services to more than 5,000 at-risk youth and families each year. These youth are typically experiencing a variety of mental, emotional and behavioral health issues often stemming from a history of neglect or physical, sexual and emotional abuse.
“There is a great need in our community to support at-risk youth and their families,” says Epworth Executive Director Kevin Drollinger. “The Polo event is our opportunity to raise awareness of this need; thanks to the generosity of our many supporters, sponsors, volunteers, staff and the public we are thrilled with the results!”
