JDRF Salutes Pharmacists -
Super Heroes to Everyone With Diabetes
A super hero is dedicated to protecting the public. That is why JDRF Greater Missouri and Southern Illinois Chapter is proud to announce that Dr. John A. Pieper, President of the St. Louis College of Pharmacy is the Honorary Chair of the 2012 JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes.
“St. Louis College of Pharmacy and I are honored to team with JDRF in the search for ways to prevent, better treat, and ultimately cure type 1 diabetes. Pharmacists are the most accessible health care professionals in each community, so it is appropriate that pharmacists and the College are at the forefront of helping all T1D patients effectively manage their disease,” said Dr. John A Pieper.
The 2012 JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes will be held on Sunday, October 7 – Upper Muny Parking in Forest Park.
You Can Be a Super Hero to Someone with T1D
If you ask people with T1D, they will tell you it is difficult and life threatening. It never goes away. When you register for the JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes, you join nearly a million people in 225+ locations across America in becoming a super hero.
Nearly 26 million Americans have diabetes – one in three children are likely to develop it during their lifetime – annual cost of diabetes to the U. S. economy is $174 billion - while you've been reading, another person was diagnosed with insulin-dependent diabetes.
But there is hope. JDRF unifies global research efforts to cure, treat and prevent T1D. The Walk to Cure Diabetes is the largest national fundraising event to help JDRF accelerate progress.
