Another New Mexican Eatery Slated for Webster Groves

Last month Fuzzy's Tacos announced it was opening its doors in the city. This months it's La Cantina.

Webster Grove's residents with an appetite for Mexican food will soon have several choices close to home.

La Cantina has announced plans to open in the former Cappone's Restaurant location at 35. N. Gore Ave. Just last month, we learned that that Fuzzy's Tacos would be opening soon in Webster Groves.

La Cantina is a new restaurant from Amigos Cantina in Kirkwood, according to a blog by Ian Froeb in the Riverfront Times. The owner had originally planned to open the new restaurant in the Delmar Loop.

Robert Trevino, the owner, confirmed the change in location with Sauce Magazine, saying he was unable to come to a compromise on the lease terms with the property manager at the Loop spot.

La Cantina's move to Webster puts the restaurant within close proximity of the city's one and only current Mexican eatery Milagro Modern Mexican. Trevino told Sauce that Milagro offers modern Mexican food and his new restaurant will offer the opposite. A mid-April opening is planned, according to the magazine.

Meanwhile, Fuzzy's Tacos, a Fort Worth, TX,-based chain, serves Baja-style Mexican food, including its "claim to fame" fish tacos. The restaurant, which will be open soon, is located at 8073 Watson Rd., the former home of Pizza Street.
