There was plenty to see, hear and do last weekend at the 2012 Art and Air Festival, sponsored by the Webster Community Arts Foundation. The theme for the 9th annual event was "Art Elevates Life."
Children enjoyed painting pictures, making pottery, creating unique arts and crafts and adding their own creative touches to the mural wall in the Creative Studios area of the fair. They were happy to take their newly created art projects home.
The Music Folk’s “musical petting zoo” allowed children to try out a large selection of stringed instruments and horns. The Chess Club had an enormous chess set available for matches with pieces that were almost as tall as the kids who were playing.
The written word was also given an elevated place as people read original works of poetry.
Art was displayed and available for purchase in a variety of mediums including acrylics and oils, clay and ceramics, digital art, drawings and graphics, fiber, glass and jewelry. More than 110 artists came from across the nation to show their wares.
There was plenty to taste and sip from local eateries and beverage vendors as well. Friday night opened the fair with a “Sip and Stroll” wine tasting with 24 wines selected by Robust. Saturday night featured “Artful Pairings” which elevated the taste buds as participants tasted irresistible chocolate and delicious ice cream paired with wine.
Performances in dance, music and poetry entertained people throughout the weekend. Check out the gallery for fun photos from the event!
