Clark Students Re-Enact Immigrants' Journey Through Ellis Island
Clark Elementary students "experience” Ellis Island through re-enactments of what immigrants had to do as they entered the United States.
Fifth-grade students at Clark Elementary School concluded a social studies unit about the early 1900s by re-enacting immigrants’ experiences as they entered this country through Ellis Island in New York. Each child received a name and a country of origin. They researched their countries and the reasons immigrants left to come to the United States.
Have you or your family actually been to Ellis Island, either as a tourist or an immigrant arriving when it was the main port of entry?
