Local students have until Jan. 6 to submit their essays in a Martin Luther King Jr. essay contest sponsored by Webster-Rock Hill Ministries and several area churches.
Winners in each grade category will receive a $100 U.S. savings bond and recognition in the 17th Annual Martin Luther King Celebration set for Jan. 15. See accompanying flyer for details.
Submissions must be between 50 and 500 words. There are five grade categories, including: kindergarten; first-through second-grade; third- through fifth-grade; sixth- through eighth-grade; and high school students.
Ed Johnson, director of Webster-Rock Hill Ministries, told Patch students in the Webster Groves School District or any other school in the Webster Groves and Rock Hill communities may enter the contest.
Entries must be submitted by Jan. 6 to Webster-Rock Hill Ministries at 111 East Waymire Ave. in Webster Groves. Submissions may be handwritten or typed and must include the student's name, address, phone number and grade level.
