Fashion Friday: Rung Boutique in Rock Hill

The resale shop has plenty of clothing and accessories for women on a budget. Plus, 100-percent of the stores profits benefit a local women's foundation.

The Fashion

Rung Boutique in Rock Hill has plenty of clothing and accessory options for professional women who are on a budget, from flattering separates to cute cocktail dresses.

Rung specializes in having options for businesswomen, so it's needless to say that they have plenty of pencil skirts. You can pair a simple grey Anne Klein skirt ($28) with a sleeveless light pink Axcess blouse ($12), a Hyper Haute pendant necklace ($34) and a pair of black Faryl Robin boots ($50) for a look that is both feminine and a little edgy.

For a bolder color or print, they have a teal-and-black herringbone Carlyle skirt ($40 for it and its matching jacket) that looks great with a black Lilla P. wrap top ($15), a Cipriani belt ($12), a gold Hyper Haute statement necklace ($160) and the black Faryl Robin boots ($50).

If shorter skirts are your thing, try a blue-and-white printed Mink Pink skirt ($25), which looks cute with a blue ruffled Banana Republic top ($20), a skinny black belt ($6) and a chunky clear and black S. King necklace ($240).

Rung also has plenty of cocktail dresses.

From a light pink Line and Dot one-shoulder dress ($40) with gold beading and a sash-tied waist to a striking sleeveless gold and white Amanda Uprichard dress ($40), gold seems to be a popular tone for the fall at Rung.

If you want something a little more simple, a little black dress is always a good idea. Rung has a black Zara dress ($40) with large silver beading at the hem that can be accessorized with a silver Hyper Haute cuff ($60) and black S. King earrings ($97.50).

Of course, since the store is a resale shop, there's no guarantee that these items will still be in stock, but they still have plenty of other cute, comfortable and practical clothing and accessories to add to your wardrobe.

The Facts

Rung opened its doors in April 2010 at 9739 Manchester Rd. in Rock Hill as the brainchild of owner Ali Kindle.

"All of the women in my family have always had a 'girls rule' mentality, and we've always loved clothes," Kindle said.

Rung seems to be the perfect combination of those two sentiments, as 100 percent of the store's profits go to the Women's Foundation of Greater St. Louis.

"It's great to have a store where women can help other women," Kindle said.

The location of the store in Rock Hill seems to be prime for Rung's target demographic - working women.

"There are a lot of working mothers in the area," said Mallarie Zimmer, the store's director. "The Rock Hill community has been great to us. A lot of local women came out when we first opened, and they're regular customers now."

In addition to secondhand items, the store also accepts proposals from local artists and designers. Rung currently sells a selection of jewelry from Erica Dunk of Hyper Haute and will be unveiling a line of dresses from local designer Caroline Williard today.

On Saturday morning, Rung will be having its first "diamonds and dessert" breakfast from 10 a.m. to noon, with mimosas, 10-percent off designer jewelry and a special $2 clearance on their remaining summer items.

More information about Rung can be found on its website.
