Free Sub Sandwich at Jersey Mike's in Webster? Just Bring in Books for Ready Readers

The restaurant known for sub sandwiches is collecting books to benefit Ready Readers. In exchange, get a free mini-sub or kid's meal!

Jersey Mike's in Webster Groves is partnering up with Ready Readers to bring books to children in low-income communities -- and is thanking donors with a free sandwich.

Jen Foss, marketing and catering director for Jersey Mike's, told Patch the book drive is running through Feb. 28. Jersey Mike's is asking for at least two preschool-aged books to donate in exchange for a mini-sub or kid's meal. The offer is limited to one per person.

Foss said Ready Readers is a St. Louis-based not-for-profit organization coordinates volunteers to read books in classrooms for 30 minutes each week, following up with reading-related activities. Volunteers also distribute new books throughout the year for the children to keep.

Jersey Mike's will also be hosting a Month of Giving event in March to benefit area Ronald McDonald House charities. Stay tuned to Patch for more details.
