Hixson Holiday House Tour: The Harris Home

Each day this week, we highlight homes that will be in the 21st Annual Webster Holiday House Tour Dec. 2.

The house owned by Todd and Kim Harris at 469 Algonquin Place is one of six historic homes visitors can walk through as part of Sunday's 21st Annual Webster Holiday House Tour. The event is sponsored by the Hixson Middle School PTO.

This classic, red brick, Cape Cod home was built in 1960. The current homeowners purchased it in 1997 and over the last 15 years, have carefully updated the interior while keeping many of the original Colonial details.

The kitchen was renovated in 1997, an inviting screened porch was added to the back in 2005 and many of the original finishes have been refurbished. The living room and the dining room, which is now an office, both feature beautiful original custom built-in shelves and cabinetry.

Enjoy the homeowner’s natural, simple yet elegant décor. Most of the framed art is by Kim. The smaller artistic pieces have been made over the years at her business, Yucandu Art Studio. The holiday decorations are a charming blend of natural materials, vintage chandelier crystals, and garlands made from jewelry belonging to Kim’s grandmother.
