Man Shot at Rock Hill Gas Station May Have Been Home Invasion Suspect

Stltoday.com is reporting that the man fatally shot by police at the Conoco Gas Station this afternoon was the suspect involved in Friday's Rock Hill home invasion.

Rock Hill police say an officer fatally shot the man suspected in Friday's Rock Hill home invasion at the Conoco Gas Station at 9601 Manchester Road this afternoon, stltoday.com reports.

The man pointed a gun at officers on the lot of the station, according to the online newspaper. Police shot the man in the chest and recovered weapons in the man's car.

Patch was on scene shortly after the shooting and was unable to confirm the information reported on stltoday.com

Rock Hill City Manager George Liyeos told Patch the investigation was now being handled by the St. Louis County Police Department. He said the department was expected to release a statement shortly.

Josh Jones, of Rock Hill, was in the gas station when the incident occurred. He said he pulled into the station in his car and a police officer pulled in behind him.

"I went into the store and was standing in line and heard 'Put your hands in the air," Jones told Patch. "I heard one gunshot and then went to the window to look out."

There was a heavy police presence at the scene including Missouri state troopers and officers from St. Louis County, Rock Hill, Warson Woods, Brentwood and Glendale.

Patch will update this story as more information becomes available.
