Orange and Black: Students Gear up for the Big Game

Spirit Week kicks off Monday at Webster Groves High School as students eagerly await the 2011 Turkey Day Game.

 

Excitement is in the air! The 2011 Turkey Day Game between Webster Groves and Kirkwood is just days away, and students at Webster Groves High School have a plethora of activities lined up to show their support of the Statesmen.

Spirit Week activities leading up to the historic rivalry on Thanksgiving Day begin Monday with a carnival and end Wednesday night with a pep rally and bonfire. Here are the details.

Monday

  • Theme Day—students in each grade level dress in different themes. Seniors will dress as senior citizens, juniors in tie dye, sophomores in camouflage and freshman as little kids.
  • Hall Decorations—students in each grade level decorate the halls in different book or movie themes, including "Harry Potter," "Star Wars," "Chronicles of Narnia" and "Pirates of the Caribbean."
  • Turkey Day Carnival—held in the Multipurpose Room during both lunch periods

Tuesday

  • Reverse Color Day—students dress in red and white
  • Turkey Bowling—held in the Commons during both lunch periods

Wednesday

  • Deca class bungee challenge
  • Color Day—students dress in orange and black
  • Assembly and Tug of War—1:30 p.m in Robert's Gym
  • Webster's Best Chili Fest—the event features a chili cookoff between several local restaurants, students and school organizations. It will be held in the cafeteria from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Pep Rally—begins at 7 p.m. in Robert's Gym
  • Bonfire—begins after the Pep Rally in Plymouth Field
