Last night's brief summer storm broke the heat wave the area has been suffering under, but it also brought a suffering of its own: power outages.

In the 63119, 63123 and 63128 zip codes covering Webster Groves, Rock Hill Affton, Shrewsbury and other cities, more than 4,900 households were without power Sunday night. This morning, only about 340 homes still didn't have power.

Amie Sellers McIlroy who lives in the Blackburn area in Webster told Webster Groves Patch on Facebook that she is still without power. She said workers are clearing trees and then Ameren UE will come out to address the problem.

She also noted that there are several big trucks parked on Florence Avenue causing a little congestion in the area.
