Suspects in Dierbergs Parking Lot Holdup in Custody, Police Say
The two men are among four suspects in a string of parking lot robberies in Shrewsbury, Brentwood, Mehlville and Crestwood, police confirmed.
Shrewsbury Police confirmed Wednesday that both suspects in the May 15 Mackenzie Pointe Dierbergs armed robbery have been arrested.
Lt. Brian Catlett told Patch that Shrewsbury Police could not release names until the St. Louis Prosecuting Attorney’s Office files charges against the suspects.
That incident was one in a string of robberies in Crestwood, the Mehlville area and Brentwood. In each robbery, at least two men forced a woman to hand over her purse at gunpoint and drove away in a green Impala.
Shortly after the Dierberg’s robbery at 7233 Watson Road, a Shrewsbury police officer spotted the car near Big Bend and Murdoch. However, the suspects were able to elude the officer when he attempted to stop vehicle.
Police also believe a Memorial Day robbery in Brentwood is related to the previous robberies. The suspect in that robbery was arrested after leading police on a chase. The chase included the suspect driving the wrong way on Interstate 70.
As many as four people are suspects in the robberies, which may include crimes in North County.
