Teppanyaki Grill and Buffet Opens at Mackenzie Pointe
Meanwhile, Hibachi Grill Supreme Buffet in Webster Groves, which is less than 3 miles away, is scheduled to open possibly sometime next week.
If you are looking for Chinese, Japanese, Italian or American food, or sushi, you'll have no problem finding it in the Shrewsbury and Webster Groves areas.
The Webster Groves, Shrewsbury, Rock Hill Area Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Tuesday for the Mackenzie Pointe complex's new Teppanyaki Grill and Buffet at 7289 Watson Rd. in Shrewsbury.
Meanwhile, Hibachi Grill Supreme Buffet in Webster Groves, which is located at 8925 Watson Rd., is scheduled to open possibly sometime next week. It is about five minutes and less than 3 miles from Teppanyaki Grill. It offers Japanese, Chinese and American cuisine.
Teppanyaki occupies the space that once held Hometown Buffet. It is part of a chain of restaurants from New York and Pennsylvania.
According to owner Daniel Lin, 250 to 300 buffet items are offered each day, ranging from traditional Chinese and Japanese buffet dishes to Italian and American items, as well as dessert and ice cream. Lin said the buffet usually shifts in the evenings to include more seafood items.
Teppanyaki also offers sushi, prepared fresh, as well as a hibachi grill where customers can pick out meats and vegetables and watch them grilled by a chef behind glass.
The restaurant, which opened last week, was already busy with both Chamber members and everyday patrons.
"My husband and I went there on Saturday, so I can tell you first hand it's good food, good service," Shrewsbury Mayor Felicity Buckley said at the ribbon cutting.
The décor of Teppanyaki’s large space is bright and features several large televisions, statues of stone warriors, a unique light sculpture imported from China and a pond that Lin said would be filled with koi fish, which children would be able to feed.
The restaurant also has a large private party room, which can be reserved for free and can house up to 65 people.
Patch readers, will you be trying out Teppanyaki Grill and Buffet?

My family and I went out to dinner tonight. We have eaten here once before and it was not the greatest experience but decided to give it another try. We were seated in the corner of the restaurant.. We ordered sodas which were brought out, never refilled. Table never cleared of plates. Ignored by the waitress the whole time. When it came time to leave I spoke to the restaurant manager. I felt that I should not have had to pay 3.50 for sodas that were never refilled and sat empty for most of the meal. He informed me that he could do nothing about it. He did not care that we had received the worst service ever. There was nothing he could do. He looked like he was maybe 20 years old and told me he was the only manager there. I payed 43.00 for a meal for 4 people and there was nothing he could do about the customer service. I will never eat there again. The food was not even very good and some of it was cold. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE.
