Two Girls Approached by Man in SUV Offering Candy

The following information was supplied by the Webster Groves Police Department for the week ending Jan. 7. Arrests or charges mentioned in this report do not indicate convictions.

 

Wednesday, Jan. 4

Sometime between Dec. 30 and Jan 4, someone stole two manhole covers from the street at Breckenridge Industrial Ct.

Thursday, Jan. 5

A suspect entered a home on West Cedar Ave. between 1:30 and 7:30 p.m. by breaking a rear door glass pane. Cash and jewelry were reported stolen.

Saturday, Jan. 7

  • Two 8-year-old girls were walking in the 600 block of Hollywood Place around 3:15 p.m. when they were approached by a white man with dark hair and a goatee driving a black SUV. The driver asked the girls if they wanted candy at which point they ran home and alerted a parent who contacted police. Police searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect.
  • Two young male suspects were caught on surveillance video between Friday night and Saturday morning damaging decorative stone lions at the Webster Groves Antique Mall in the 100 block of E. Lockwood Ave. Police are reviewing the video and attempting to identify the suspects.

Misc.

Between Dec. 26 and Dec. 28, someone stole items from an unlocked car parked in the 200 block of N. Bompart Ave.
