The rivalry between the Kirkwood and Webster Groves football teams is epic and steeped in tradition but is it the best high school football rivalry in the nation?
That's the question USA TODAY High School Sports has been asking readers.
The publication is holding a competition in which readers get to vote for their favorite rivalries with the winning teams receiving $5,000 each.
Right now voting, which began Monday, is in the state competition round. Kirkwood vs. Webster is competing with Brookfield vs. Marceline high schools and Hickman and Jefferson City high schools.
Readers can vote as many times as they wish for their favorite rivalry on the state level through Dec. 3. Winners of each state will compete in a round of regional voting Dec. 5-12 with regional winners facing off Dec. 13-19.
The national winning rivalry will receive $10,000 to be divided equally between the two schools' athletic departments. Additionally, USA TODAY Sports will report live on the winning rivalry game in 2013 and will present the schools with a trophy that will be kept each year by the winning team, according to USA Today.
