Webster Groves Man Charged With Trying to Run Over His Sister
Police said the man circled a neighbor's bushes in his SUV trying to hit her.
Police said a Webster Groves man tried to drive over his sister at about 1:15 p.m. Wednesday at Cheshire Avenue and Kenora Court.
Phillip Buettner, 26, of the 200 block of Kenora Court in Webster Groves, was charged Thursday with first-degree assault.
Webster Groves Police said in a report that Buettner put his 2001 Hyundai Santa Fe in reverse in attempt to hit his sister. When she ran to a neighbor’s yard, the defendant followed in his SUV and circled a row of bushes where she was hiding, according to the report.
Buettner is being held in St. Louis County Jail in lieu of a $50,000 bond.

Wake up people! It's time we put an end to the SUV insanity. ANYBODY can buy an SUV. There's no real use for them. You can put kids and groceries in a regular car. SUVs have proven themselves to be deadly weapons time and time again. We need tougher SUV laws now!

Funny, Dan. But I wonder what would have been the result of this story if Mr. Buettner were in possession of a handgun.

Ya blame it on the car not the person driving.... That is the dumbest thing I have ever heard. Like blaming music and video games for peoples actions.

This guy once took my baby daughter on a joy ride. His mother ran our daughter's daycare. The police called for me to pick up my baby at the station. We never gave her permission to take our daughter on errands and we certainly did NOT know her irrational son would be driving her around. After all of the reports to the police and DCFS, we immediately severed ties.
I pray this young man gets the help he needs, but fear that things will only get worse.

I am the little sister. This has all been taken to far. I wish that things could have gone differnetly that day,but they didn't. He is a good man when he can handle life but without medication he can't. I love him very much and always will. I think if he was in his right mind that day he wouldn't have even done that. Also (L.S) as far as the whole daycare thing that was NOT A JOY RIDE she was taking him to play golf with his father, that was never really there for him. Your daughter was asleep the WHOLE ride there. He was not speeding or driving againist the law. He waited till he could pull over at a safe place. The report had 13 false hoods on it, who would have thought that cops can be that currupt. Also thankyou for your prayers and we hope that the judge sees on getting him mentle help.
Tim S. you are right I was not hideing in the bushes, and my brother did come in the house even though his swim trunks were on the front porch. He slammed door and the gate at the top of the basement stairs. That is not our mothers home, it's our grandmothers home. It's not respectfull. Then he drove through the front yard so, I asked him what the heck he thought he was doing and at that point he put it in reverse. I'm so sorry this ever happend, and we will all be praying for the best verdict possible. That only God knows.
