Paint Webster Review

Hey guys! David here with a special review of an event that recently happened among the Webster community!

For those of you who don't know what Paint Webster is, it allows anyone who lives in or around the area to paint a picture of an area in Webster, whether it be in Old Webster, Old Orchard, or wherever. They had until about 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 12th to submit their artwork, then the artwork was put on display for the community to look at and enjoy. I arrived at about 5 p.m. and saw a huge amount of people inside.

Before I had arrived, I had no idea what to expect. I wasn't given too many details about the event other than people would be painting parts of Webster and putting them on display (as I explained earlier). I wasn't expecting a lot of people, but when I walked in, I barely had any room to walk around. It's nice to see so many people have such an appreciation of the arts to attend an art show.

My job, however, was not to walk around the gallery and enjoy the artwork (though I wish I had gotten a chance because the artwork I had seen was beautiful). There were two buckets right by one of the doors: An Artist's Choice and a People's Choice bucket. The artists and the visitors could decide their favorite piece of artwork on display and write down the number of the piece and put it in the buckets. My job was to hand out the pieces of paper for the artists and visitors to write their favorite down and put it in the buckets.

After handing out pieces of paper for about half an hour, we decided to close the ballots and start counting up the votes. I stood around and waited patiently for another job for me to work on. Eventually, the ballots were counted and the awards were to be announced.

I found it extremely interesting that youth were involved in this event. I only pictured adults participating in the activities, but finding high school kids and even elementary school kids participating in the event was exciting to see.

In general, I found the event to be quite enjoyable and interesting. If you did not attend the event this year, I recommend you attend next year because all of the artists who participated were very talented and created beautiful pieces of artwork that were meant for he purpose of being enjoyed by many others. We had a fantastic turnout this year and it'd be awesome to see even more people come out next year!
