Preparatory Program Fall Concert

Seven chamber groups will present a diversity of works on the Fall Preparatory Program Concert.  Repertoire to include:  first movement from Mozart’s Quartet No. 14 in G Major, K. 378 “Spring”, Prokofiev’s Overture on Hebrew Themes, Op. 34, first movement from Boccherini’s String Quintet in D Major, Op. 39, No. 3, G. 339, first and second movements from Shostakovich’s String Quartet No. 8 in c minor, Op. 110, first movement from Mendelssohn’s String Quartet No. 4 in e minor, Op. 44, No. 2, first movement from Janácek’s String Quartet No. 1 “Kreutzer Sonata”, and first movement from Beethoven’s String Quartet No. 8 in e minor, Op. 59, No. 2. 

 

The Community Music School's Preparatory Program is the pinnacle of the school’s sequential music education curriculum. Prep is designed to augment the individual music study of exceptionally talented string, woodwind and piano students who anticipate pursuing a career in music. Utilizing the vast artistic resources of the entire St. Louis regional musical community, the Preparatory Program offers high caliber instruction, performance opportunities, and artistic mentoring in one comprehensive curriculum. Prep graduates to date have enjoyed great success in gaining acceptance into the most prestigious institutions in the United States. Founded in 1925, CMS offers outstanding music education and performance opportunities to students of all ages and abilities and serves the entire St. Louis metropolitan region.  Classes are available in University City, at Faust Park in West County, and at CMS headquarters located on the Webster University campus in Webster Groves.  For more information, call 314-968-5939. 

 

The Community Music School is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music, and is a certified member of the National Guild for Community Arts Education. The Community Music School receives assistance from the Arts and Education Council of Greater Saint Louis and support from the Regional Arts Commission of St. Louis.   Financial assistance for this project has been provided by the National Endowment for the Arts.
