This program of guitar/voice duets will feature Deborah Sharn, vocals, and Steve Schenkel, who will play a variety of guitars, including 12-string, baritone, hollow body flat top, and even a ukelele.
Deborah Sharn has been singing in St. Louis for many years with jazz combos, cover bands, theatre companies and in concert settings. As an actress she has worked with The Black Rep, New Line Theatre, The New Jewish Theatre, and Mustard Seed Theatre among others. Sharn is also the company manager for the Repertory Theatre of St. Louis. She will star as Mama Rose in the Stray Dog Theater production of "Gypsy," which opens April 4.
Steve Schenkel has been a professor of music at Webster University since 1980. He is the guitarist for the orchestras at the Fox Theater and Muny Opera, and also plays on occasion for the St. Louis Symphony (most recently with Kenny G) and the Repertory Theatre of St. Louis (most recently for Daddy Long Legs). Schenkel's music has been heard nationally on numerous PBS programs and on five CDs.
