Webster University’s Conservatory of Theatre Arts presents “Uncommon Women and Others” by Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning playwright Wendy Wasserstein.  The production runs Feb. 20-24 and Feb. 27-March 3, in Stage III, Webster Hall, 470 E. Lockwood Ave.  Curtain times are 7:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. only on Sundays.  A special post-show conversation will immediately follow the performance on Sunday, Feb. 24.  Admission is $12 for the general public and $6 for senior adults and students.  For ticket reservations, call the Fine Arts Hotline at 968-7128.

The play begins in the late 1970s with a reunion, six years after graduation, of five close friends and classmates at Mount Holyoke College.  They compare notes on their activities since leaving school and then, in a series of flashbacks, we see them in their college days and learn of the events, some funny, some touching, some bitingly cynical, that helped to shape them.  Each of the group is a distinct individual, and it is their varying reactions to the serious, sheltered and often anachronistic university environment that gives the play its special meaning for today’s young women as they go forth into the world that awaits them after graduation.
