The Metro Edge Figure Skating Club of Missouri is proud to present the 8th annual "Nutcracker on Ice". This abridged one-hour version of the Nutcracker is a magical experience the whole family will enjoy! This, adapted to ice, show is packed with skating set to the traditional Nutcracker music with magical sets as the backdrop. Principal skaters are competitive skaters from the area who will spin and jump their way through this holiday classic, the show also features skaters of all ages as adorable sweets, mice, fairies and more!
There will be special appearances by national and international competitor Barbie Long and World Champion Igor Lisovski. We are thrilled to welcome Barbie as our featured guest skater. Barbie recently qualified to compete at the 2013 U.S. Figure Skating Championships by taking the Gold at the 2013 Midwestern Sectional Championships in Jr. Ladies. This will be Barbie’s third straight appearance at U.S. Nationals. Barbie made her international debut this past year as a member of the USA Team competing in the junior division where she earned the Gold Medal at the Gardena Spring Trophy in Italy and earned the silver in her first ISU Junior Grand Prix event, Sencila Bled Cup in Slovenia. Barbie, a 16 year old from St. Louis, MO began skating at the age of 4 in the US Figure Skating Learn To Skate program. World Champion Pairs skater, Igor Lisovski will appear in the part of Drosselmeir this year. Igor is the 1981 World and European Pairs Champion. He has shared his love of figure skatine in “Stars on Ice” and “Bolshoi on Ice”. He continues to do this by coaching, here in St. Louis. Igor is an International Master of Sports Honors in Figures, Freestyle and Pairs Skating.
Tickets are $12 at the door or $10 if purchased in advance; children 4 and under are FREE.
