The Webster University baseball team makes its first-ever appearance in the NCAA III World Series this weekend in Appleton, Wisconsin. The Gorloks (35-12), one of eight regional champions, begin play Friday, May 25, in the double-elimination format against Wheaton College (38-9) at 10:00 a.m. at Fox Cities Stadium.
Webster advanced to the World Series by winning its first-ever regional championship last weekend at USA Stadium in Millington, TN. The Gorloks, seeded fifth out of six teams, swept through four games, including two wins against Birmingham-Southern College, ranked seventh in the nation at the time. Webster also defeated #22 ranked DePauw Unviersity as well.
If Webster wins Friday, they would play on May 26 at 5:30 p.m. vs. the winner of the Cortland State/Kean University game. A loss would pit them against the loser of that contest at 11:00 a.m. on the 26th.
The 35 wins in 2012 ties for the most victories in a season in Webster baseball history. Webster enters the World Series on an eight-game win streak.
