I lived in Webster Groves for 8 years, but they were very important ones. I grew up there, arriving when I was 5, and reluctantly moving away when I was 14. With its old homes, vast community-property lawns, and tree-lined streets, it was a perfect place to grow up, especially for me. We walked everywhere then, and fairly early on I was allowed to walk to 'Webster' on my own. That's when I discovered the Webster Bookshop, and a life-long relationship with small, intimate bookstores was born. I walked there often, and stayed for long periods of time, and it never occurred to me that I was anything other than welcome. Like the library further down Lockwood, it was a home away from home.
Years later I returned with my fiance, and was able to share this relatively unchanged place with him. It was a joy and a comfort to return, and I look forward to sharing this bookstore with my book-loving children. I am so happy to see you are still there, sharing the magic of books with generation after generation of readers.
Gratefully,
Melissa
