Murdoch Bridge Demolition Set for Mid-March
The Murdoch Avenue bridge over the railroad is scheduled for closure from March 12 through the end of August.
Around mid-March, a trip west on Interstate 44 from Murdoch Avenue will have to be by way of Laclede Station Road and Murdoch Avenue from the south. The Murdoch Avenue bridge, over the railroad, will be down with a new bridge in the works. Originally, the closure was to take place this month. However, the contractor, Kozeny Wagner, is still in the process of getting drawings and demolition plans approved by MoDOT and the Burlington Northern Sante Fe Railroad. Webster Groves Director of Public Works Paul Verheyen said if everything goes according to plan, the contractor will be on the site around March 6. Thanks for your question, Terri. The article has been updated after a talk with Verheyen today. There will not be a left turn lane from northbound Laclede Station onto Big Bend. Also, the left turn from Laclede Station onto Newport will be monitored to see if traffic backs up into the Big Bend intersection.   more ›
